What is Shaolin Kung Fu (Gongfu)?

Shaolin Kung Fu (gongfu) can best be described as the "alphabet" of martial arts. It was originally developed in the Shaolin Monastery in China, and has a history of about 1500 years. Since then, it has since derived into various schools such as Lohan, Praying Mantis, Chaquan, Hoong Ka, Wing Choon, Choy-Li-Fatt and many others.

At the Shaolin Wahnam Institute, Sifu Emiko Hsuen is pleased to offer both Northern (Tantui) and Southern Shaolin Kung Fu (Gongfu).


How can Shaolin Kung Fu benefit us in daily life?

There are many benefits, and they may be generalized into 5 categories:

Is Shaolin Kung Fu (Gongfu) religious?

No, Shaolin Kung Fu is non-religious. Throughout history, Shaolin masters have come from various religious background, including Buddhist, Taoist, Confucian, Christian and Muslim. There also have been masters who have claimed to profess no religion.

Shaolin Kung Fu will be taught by Sifu Emiko Hsuen.

Sifu Hsuen has been authorized to teach by Grandmaster Wong Kiew Kit, a world-renowned chi kung master who is the 4th generation successor of the Venerable Jiang Nan of the southern Shaolin Monastery.
